Outback Australia

15th June - Home

A very early start for the Sunrise tour to Uluru, this was extra early for us as the time change from Perth was working against us and the previous night could not be described as either early or abstemious. Luckily I'd stopped Mary heading for the bar with our fellow customers last night or we might have flagged the whole thing.

The actual sunrise was somewhat disappointing in part because of a bit of cloud that appeared and partly because the viewing location was just a roadside. All a bit odd. 'Marty the bus driver' was better than that and the tour went on to take us around the rock, we found him most informative and entertaining.

Overall, despite my reservations, the Ayres Rock 'experience' was worthwhile but one night was quite enough. We would very much have liked a little more time to do the cultural walking tour at the base of the rock, that might well have improved our view of this part of the trip?
