Out on the Peninsula

A much quieter day. Us born again bikers (bambis) are not to be discouraged by a few adversities. The rain in the night was torrential, the bike was outside but just had to cope.

The Capt Cook Lodge in Gisborne is functional and quiet and the staff have much to commend them, the young chap cleaning the neighbours room gave me their paper. Breakfast back on the pier was whitebait fritters but my word the service was slow. Finally away about 11:00 and headed south.

But its not dinner time!
Decided to head for Havelock North (and look up old friends) by way of the Mahia Peninsula. It's a spectacular ride and clearly the peninsula deserves more than a passing visit, if only for the fresh local crays. The day brightened as I got further staff but it was still cool enough to warrant the jacket liner.

Doreen (the Zumo) showed her worth again taking me virtually to the door of my destination. There are times when the instructions are obviously rubbish so some care is needed.
